What To Expect

Welcome to our cozy, warm treatment space!

The succession of Acupuncture treatment includes a series of weekly treatments. For fertility acupuncture, weekly treatment is recommended.

Acupuncture needles are single-use, sterilized packaged needles. They are solid and as thin as 3 human hairs; Sometimes people feel a slight prick when the needle is inserted, but generally other than a little ache sensation, treatment is not painful.

In addition to needles, other tools are used in the treatment room to affect healing.  Moxabustion Therapy is a technique used which applies the herb artemesia vulgaris (or mugwort) to Acupuncture points. Cupping Therapy, Gua Sha, and topic herbal plasters may be used as well.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a powerful healing modality whose use has been documented for over 2,000 years.  Historical evidence traces its use back  to China during the Han Dynasty (202 BC–220 AD), during which the Huang Di Nei Jing (Yellow Emperor’s Internal Classic) was written. Evidence leads historians to believe that this medicine goes much farther back in Chinese history than is recorded.

Acupuncture is a system of medicine that is based upon an “invisible” energy channel system (“Qi” energy, pronounced “chee”) that runs throughout the body. The Qi (or “human essence”) carries with it all of the overall wellness of the individual; it embodies all aspects of human life including the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual states of being. There are 14 main Acupuncture channels that run all throughout the body, and blockages can occur at any place on any of them. Blockages create imbalance, which is the main focus of Acupuncture treatment: it seeks to clear the blockages and restore balance by creating movement by promoting the body's ability to heal itself.  Imbalance is considered the root of all dis-ease.

Acupuncture treatment utilizes the insertion of tiny needles into acupuncture points along the channels.
